Process
For this outcome I wanted to pay tribute to Brinklow pottery but from the perspective of a granddaughter. Therefore I aimed to amalgamate traditional exhibition catalogue or Artist biography with more creative storytelling. I experimented with an illustrative approach in order to create a more whimsical childlike feel appropriate to the nostalgia I experienced as I wrote the article. Due to the medieval and folkloric inspirations of Brinklow Pottery, I also was inspired by ornate illustrative layouts and typography. I experimented with typography found during my ethnographic research phase. I managed to create typographic features for the book out of my own grandparents writing from the 1980s during their time running the pottery studio. This gave the work a much more personalised, organic and meaningful dynamic.
